The Lackawanna County Commissioners will be rolling out the red carpet in July for the much-awaited premier of “The Trouble With Cali.”
Details for the movie’s community showing were announced today (June 19) by Commissioners Jim Wansacz, Patrick M. O’Malley and Edward G. Staback at a press conference.
“The Trouble With Cali” will be shown at The Scranton Cultural Center on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, July 9, 10 & 11, beginning at 7:30 PM, free-of-charge.
“We are very pleased that Mr. Sorvino granted us the release to show “The Trouble With Cali” to the residents of Lackawanna County,” explained Commissioner Jim Wansacz. “He was very cooperative during the whole process and wants the people of Lackawanna County to see the film that they invested in. We are now able to do that.”
“It has been a long time coming. Finally the people will have the opportunity to see what they invested in some 10 years ago,” said Commissioner Patrick M. O’Malley. “I want to express my thanks to Mr. Sorvino and his legal counsel for their assistance in providing us with the clearance to show the film to the public. We appreciated their efforts to work with us and provide a great opportunity for our 214,000 residents.”
“It is great to be able to let the people see their film and make their own decision on its merit,” noted Commissioner Edward G. Staback. “This premier would not be possible without Mr. Sorvino’s approval, and I am very happy that he granted us the opportunity to show the film to the public and raise some funds for one of the crown jewels of our community – The Scranton Cultural Center.”
Residents who would like to see the film on premier night, July 9, must have a ticket. Tickets will be available on a first come, first served basis at the following locations — the Commissioners’ Office, all branches of the Lackawanna County Library System, the Scranton Cultural Center, and The Times-Tribune Building. There is a four ticket limit.
Tickets are not needed for the Friday and Saturday screenings. Admission is on a first come, first served basis.
Snacks and beverages will be available for purchase. The proceeds will benefit The Scranton Cultural Center.
Additionally, general donations will be accepted to support the ongoing programs and activities of the Scranton Cultural Center at the Masonic Temple
