James Abda, center, accepts a proclamation from Lackawanna County Commissioner Patrick M. O’Malley in recognition of his retirement after 42 years of service as head mechanic for the Roads & Bridges Department. Mr. Abda started with the County in 1973 and took great pride in maintaining the fleet of equipment and vehicles under his responsibility. A West Scranton High School graduate, Jim attended Lackawanna College and Marywood University and enlisted in the United States Navy Seabees. He enjoys travelling, car restoration and spending time with his family.
