Francesca (Fran) Pantuso, Roaring Brook Township, has been appointed as Chief of Staff to the Lackawanna County Board of Commissioners.
The appointment, which is effective immediately, was announced today (February 27) by Commissioners Patrick M. O’Malley and Laureen A. Cummings.
In a joint statement, the Commissioners cited Pantuso’s 36 years of experience involving general administration, community involvement, supervision of staff, media experience, and hiring practices.
As Chief of Staff, Ms. Pantuso will be responsible for providing support to the Commissioners and staff and directing the day-to-day operations of County government. She will also: coordinate public meetings; participate in the yearly budget development process; implement policies and programs; analyze proposals; serve as the Right-To-Know Officer for the County; represent the County in litigation matters and settlement agreements; and participate in union negotiations and arbitration proceedings.
Fran began her professional career in the broadcast industry in 1983 with WBQW. The well-known radio personality moved to MAGIC 93 in 1985, which marked the beginning of a 26-year stint of entertaining listeners in a three-state radius.
She did numerous live broadcasts, artist interviews, copy preparation, voice overs, commercials, promotions, scheduling and hiring.
She began her career with Lackawanna County in March of 2012 as the Community Outreach Manager. In that role, Ms. Pantuso prepared proclamations and certificates, served as the Right-To-Know Officer, organized photo shoots, travelled with the Commissioners to various events, and represented the County at various meetings and civic engagements. Fran was appointed Assistant Chief of Staff to the Board of Commissioners on October 3, 2018.
Fran graduated from Bishop O’Hara High School, Dunmore, and is an alumnae of Marywood College with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications – Radio & Television with a minor in Public Relations.
Active in the community, Fran serves as the Chairman of the Lackawanna County Visitors Bureau and has been involved as an emcee/or volunteer for The Race for The Cure, Heart Ball & Walk, St. Joseph’s Center, and Lupus, to note a cross-section
Her salary has been set at $70,000.
