Barbour’s Bakery of Carbondale was the small business spotlighted at the January 11 Lackawanna County Commissioners Meeting. An icon in the upper valley, the bakery is famous for its cinnamon buns and bread products. For the past 105 years, the family-owned business has utilized the recipes of Mary Walker Barbour, who started the operation in Childs. The demand for its products and overall growth caused the business to move from several locations to its current shop on Salem Avenue. Today, Janet Price carries-on the family tradition of producing fresh, natural products and serving 20 wholesale customers.
