Senior citizens are a valued treasure, especially in Lackawanna County.
Our senior population possess a wealth of knowledge, experience, resources and contacts that helped to improve the overall landscape of our community.
To honor the “golden” members of our community, the Lackawanna County Commissioners Patrick M. O’Malley, Jerry Notarianni and Laureen A. Cummings are hosting their annual Senior Fun Day on Friday, June 16, from 10 AM – 1 PM at McDade Park’s Pavilion 1, Scranton.
“We are very happy to again offer Senior Fun Day for the elderly of Lackawanna County. It’s our way of getting them “out-of-the-house” and say thanks for what they’ve done to help the communities where they live,” said Commissioner Patrick M. O’Malley.
“This program is a small token of our appreciation to our senior citizens, and we hope that they enjoy what we’ve assembled. Without their lifetime commitment to their communities, we would never able to achieve all that we have over the years,” explained Commissioner Jerry Notarianni.
“This is a great way to recognize the individuals who make our communities great,” noted Commissioner Laureen A. Cummings. “Our senior citizens, in their own way, contributed to the overall development of our area, and we are pleased to be able to recognize them.”
This free event will feature a cookout and a variety of activities. There will be music, outdoor lawn games, hot dogs, soft drinks, coffee, bingo, prizes and more.
A free pass to visit the Lackawanna Coal Mine Tour will be given to everyone in attendance.
Transportation from area Senior Centers will be handled by COLTS. Individuals must register for a ride in order to gauge the number of pickups that will have to be made.
