Richard Bradshaw, center, Executive Director of the Ronald McDonald House of Scranton, accepts a “Good Works” certificate from the Lackawanna County Commissioners for the organization’s efforts in providing a “home away from home” for families whose children are undergoing treatment for serious illnesses or injuries. Located on Wheeler Avenue in Scranton, the house opened its doors on June 25, 1986. The structure underwent a recent renovation project that incorporated an elevator, six second floor bedrooms, and two handicapped accessible bedrooms on the first floor. The Ronald McDonald House utilizes gifts from the McDonald’s Corporation, local donations, gifts and a variety of fundraisers to operate. There are 300 houses located worldwide.
