Jeanne Donovan and Tina McGuire, center, comprise the “Great Blue Heron” rescue squad. In early October, the two women heard about the story of the bird being tangled in fishing line at McDade Park, Scranton, and was unable to break free. Using Heron calls, canned salmon and ingenuity, the animal activists were able to draw the bird in and hold it to perform their “Good Works” of setting it free.
