Sixty-nine companies from across Northeastern Pennsylvania, offering approximately 1,821 full-time, part-time and seasonal job openings, are participating in the sixth annual Lackawanna County Job Fair at PNC Field’s Mohegan Sun Club on Thursday, May 24, from 1 PM to 5 PM.
The event is free and open to candidates of all experience levels and work categories.
“Our job fairs have been tremendous successes and have an established track record. They have helped put our people back to work,” said Commissioner Patrick M. O’Malley. “Everyone benefits from an event like this because it helps to promote the growth of our area’s businesses and enables people to take care of their families.”
“This is a great community event,” explained Commissioner Jerry Notarianni. “The more people who are working, the better it is for them and our economy. It gives them buying power, which has a multiplier effect for every sector of our area.”
“I am encouraged with the caliber of firms joining forces with us and providing a wide-range of jobs where anyone from current students to the general public will have the opportunity to interview and hopefully secure a position,” noted Commissioner Laureen A. Cummings. “It is a great opportunity for matching someone’s talents with a local company, agency or internship opportunity.”
Representatives from the Pennsylvania CareerLink Lackawanna will be on-site to offer assistance on resume preparation and proper interview etiquette, along with other related general advice.
The general public is urged to bring their resumes, to dress professionally and to be prepared to be interviewed.
According to Justin MacGregor, the County’s Deputy Director for Human Resources, the vendors in the job fair were not charged for the exhibit space. This is a total community service activity.
