The model train, featuring several of Scranton’s historic landmarks, will be officially unveiled and dedicated at a brief ceremony on Friday, September 22, at 11 AM at The Electric City Trolley Museum, 300 Cliff Street, Scranton, by the Lackawanna County Commissioners.
The train, which generated national publicity for the area from HBO’s “Last Week Tonight” with John Oliver, will be on permanent display at the The Trolley Museum.
The train was originally donated to WNEP-TV Channel 16 by Mr. Oliver. Station management decided that it would be best served to be on permanent display at The Trolley Museum, a facility steeped in the area’s historic past. It will also be well-protected from the weather.
To celebrate the display, The Trolley Museum is offering free admission this weekend to view the exhibit and the other artifacts and equipment. The facility’s hours of operation for Friday, Saturday and Sunday are 9 AM – 4 PM.
