Nearly 30,000 individuals in Lackawanna County struggle with hunger on a daily basis. In an attempt to raise awareness of this vital community issue and to help the less fortunate get the resources they need, the Lackawanna County Commissioners designated September as “Hunger Action Month.” The County is committed to working with the Commission on Economic Opportunity for the Weinberg Northeast Regional Food Bank to let people know how they can assist local pantries, shelters and soup kitchens with donations.
