The Lackawanna County Penn State Extension will celebrate 100 years of service to county residents and will present the 2014 Thomas B. Jurchak Award to Hilda Lewis for her 50 years of volunteer service to youth as a 4-H leader at its 2014 annual meeting, which will be held on Saturday, June 7, from 9 AM – 11 AM at the Abington Senior Center, 1151 Winola Road, Clarks Summit, PA.
The Thomas B. Jurchak Award is presented to an individual who has made a significant contribution for advancing the Extension’s goals of education in agriculture, family living, youth, and community development. Mr. Jurchak was the County’s Extension Director for 38 years.
The cost of the program is $5 per person. Registration is required and the deadline is Monday, June 2. Healthy snacks will be served, using approved Penn State program recipes. At the conclusion of the meeting, tours of the Community Garden will be offered along with Penn State Extension program displays.
