The Lackawanna County Commissioners and members of the Judiciary and law enforcement recognize the Lackawanna College Police Academy on its 40th anniversary. Certified by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in April 1977, the academy was the first and only private college in Northeastern Pennsylvania to provide Act 120 training. Its alumni serve police departments all across Pennsylvania in a variety of capacities and are also active in state and federal agencies, as well.
