The Lackawanna County Commissioners provided a “Good Works” certificate to The Deutsch Institute In recognition of the agency’s work in providing recreation and wellness programs to individuals with intellectual and physical disabilities. The organization, established in 1979, serves Lackawanna, Luzerne, Susquehanna, Wayne and Wyoming Counties. The Institute participates in cooperative ventures and programs with other social service agencies as a means of improving the health and well-being of its clients. The agency offers educational services, art classes, bowling, bus trips and social activities. Its major fund raiser, The Champagne Celebrity Brunch,” will be held on November 8 at St. Mary’s Center, Scranton.
