Joanne Davis, inside right, founder of St. Cats & Dogs, accepts a “Good Works” certificate from the Lackawanna County Commissioners for her efforts in caring for feral and free-roaming cats and dogs. The organization’s goal is to increase public awareness of this issue by educating the community on the necessity and benefits of trapping, neutering and returning pets, especially cats, that run stray. The group provides secure and safe temporary housing and assistance for these animals at the Nay Aug Park Zoo before they are released back at the spot they were found.
