More West Nile Virus Detected In the County

The presence of West Nile virus has been detected once again with six new mosquito samples collected.  Positive samples were located at: the intersection of Marion Street and Powell Avenue in Clarks Summit; Spring Street in Moosic; the Powder Mill Lane trailhead in Jermyn; the South Laurel Street trailhead in Archbald; Sibley Avenue in Old Forge; and McDade Park.

No human cases have been reported in Lackawanna County at this time.

Officials from Lackawanna County and the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection are responding to the situation.  Residents in these areas are advised to take precaution when outdoors and to eliminate standing water on their property.

Additional West Nile Virus Samples Detected In Lackawanna County

The presence of West Nile virus has been detected in five new mosquito samples collected in Lackawanna County.

Positive samples were found at: intersection of Marion Street and Powell Avenue in Clarks Summit; May Street in Moosic; Spring Street in Moosic; the intersection of South Irving Avenue and East Locust Street in Scranton; and the intersection of Palm Street and Crown Avenue in Scranton.

No human cases have been reported in Lackawanna County at this time.

Officials from Lackawanna County and the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection are responding to the situation.  Residents in these areas are advised to take precaution when outdoors.

All Lackawanna County Lakes Open For Swimming

All Lackawanna County Lakes Open For Swimming

The lakes at Aylesworth, Merli-Sarnoski and Covington Parks are cleared for swimming once again.  All water levels / readings are back to normal.

As always, please practice safety when in the water.  Swimming at our lakes is at your own risk.

All County parks are open until dusk for the public to use the various amenities.
