2020 Scranton/Latin Festival Cancellation Joint Statement
The Latino community has been an important part of the rich, diverse culture in Lackawanna County. Its annual Scranton Latin Festival celebrates the food, traditions, art and other aspects of this heritage. Yet again, like other area events, it too has been affected by the pandemic.
The Lackawanna County Commissioners and the Scranton Latin Festival organizers jointly announced that this year’s celebration set for August 22 on Courthouse Square has been cancelled. “All parties are concerned with the health and well-being of our residents, Latino families and friends, vendors, entertainers, and others who have established their very successful special event. We are committed to both everyone’s safety and preventing the spread of this virus. We hope to be able celebrate this special culture once again in 2021.”
